A new contemporary house in Chatswood in a street of identical Federation bungalows, the design responds to the pitched roofs, solid bases and crafted detail of the streetscape. Water is collected from the floating steel roof and directed by stainless steel spitters into a landscaped pond under a rock shelf at the entry. Ribbed skylights run the length of the living areas, exposing the raw concrete ceilings and Spanish sandstone floors. Living areas open to a cantilevered deck, wet edge pool and garage with landscaped roof. A palette of raw materials; concrete, galvanised steel, sandstone, plywood and Jarrah is exposed by washes of light from carefully placed openings.
