Saddle House

On a 12,000 acre property near Scone in rural NSW, Saddle House is sited on an elevated site with direct views to a prominent saddle between two spurs across the valley.  This solar passive house is designed to resist bushfires and create a comfortable oasis within the harsh Australian climate. This is horse country with hot summers and cold winters. The house responds with a practical layout, robust, durable low maintenance materials and a restrained palette featuring natural textures and earthy colours.
